Dont ask me why I did this. I was just wondering ...what if... and I had the cover off anyway so this is what I did.

I think it looks good. I was at a car show a while back, and I saw this guy who had an old Willy with a civvy 230 Tornado (oh yeah, I thought it was pretty cool), and he had a NICE engine compartment with a polished valve cover. I thought it looked slick. I too spruced up my valve cover a bit. I don't think there is anything wrong with taking a little pride in your engine and stuff.

We have done that before, my son found some engine clear coat, or laquer or something that helped it stay pretty longer.

Nice! I always wanted to roll one of those on the polisher just to see what it would look like. Now I get to see it, and without all the work!

    Good job!

Unlike most wheelers, I like bright and shiney objects. That is way cool. For a non stocker of course. Watch those torque values. It would be a SHAME to crack that one.

I used paint stripper then scrubbed it with Scotch Brite and Thinner to get the paint off. It came off easy. Then I polished it using my bench mounted polisher from Eastwood.
I think the polishing was about 20 minutes to get it to that point. To polish the entire cover complet about and hour. I will clear coat it with high temp clear.
I just did this out of simple curiosity. I have a second cover that I will actually put on my truck after I repaint it. This one will hang on the wall in my sons bedroom.
Maybe there would be a market for this service!

There is a market for this and it don't come cheap! Its hard dirty work, but it looks so cool! We typically charge $100 for a cover that size.........

If you hang it on the wall, go to a craft store and pick up a clockwork and turn it into a really cool wall clock. We've done that with some motorcycle cases before and they are great for the den or garage.
