Default M.V.'s in Vietnam pics (no 715's yet)

Here are a couple of pics taken when my Dad was in Vietnam in '68-'69 that I thought may be of interest.

I believe this is an M37. My Dad was doing front brakes on it.... Gotta love the NDT's!

    Here's a deuce and trailer:

Here is a shot of the front of the 5 ton wrecker he drove in Vietnam:

And here's a side view of the same wrecker:

There will be more and I am sure I have seen a 715 or 725 in one or two of his pics.

Thanks for the ID on that one! My Dad always said that they had a lot of Korea and even some WWII stuff kicking around.

They also had some Jeeps that were 4 wheel independent suspension and Ford 4 cylinder powered. Anyone have any idea what they were? I will post a pic of one when I find it.

Those are the m-151 "mutt" which also saw revisions during its lifetime- w/ a m1 and even an m2 model some of the changes were because the orignal design of the independent susp. which allowed the vehicle to roll in certian driving conditions. apparently the problem was bad enough to have the "rops" ( rollover protection system, a complete roll cage and passenger harnesses) system developed for them. this condition lead to the required destruction of the vehicle before auctioning them so they couldnt be used agian by the public. early auction vehicles were just cut in half across the body (they were unibody construction) and they just got welded back togther so the army began requiring quartering them and even later crushing before disposal. they were allowed however to remove drivetrain and ancilliary parts to be removed an sold whole.

Very interesting, because I have never been able to locate one anywhere, and only a scant few pictures as well. I always thought that they would be an interesting project. Not so much as a wheeling vehicle, but a curiousity...... Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

We had M-151s when I was in (85-93) and then transitioned to the Hummers. The 151s were fun to drive, but as was mentioned, they were a little squirrelly suspension-wise.

I've seen one around town here with the cage on it - we didn't use such sissy things when I was in!

Where's that video clip of the Mutt rolling multiple times with the crash-test dummies aboard?
