    Default Drive shaft/gas tank clearance?

For those of you out there that have moved your rear drive shaft to the center on the np-200, or for those of you that have swapped to a different t-case that is center output on the rear, Oh, and your using the stock gas tank,

How much clearance did you have between the axle yoke and the tank?
I'm running a Dana 60 and the yolk is only clearing by 1/2", maybe 5/8". I'm thinking thats a bit close. Anybody have any problems with interference in that area? Is there anybody running that close? The drive shaft has plenty of clearance, its just the yolk and the seam of the fuel tank thats close.

Bog, I just went out and crawled under my truck and studied the situation. I'm using an NP205, centerline mounted drive. The clearance between the driveshaft and tank, at the closest point, is about 3 1/2"-4". At the yoke on the third member I have about 4"-5" from the seam of the tank.
I don't think I will have any issues with clearance.
How much lateral movement can be expected in the shaft or rearend?

The Dana 60 I'm using was the widest one I could get my hands on easy, its from a J-20, almost centered. While rebuilding and adding the Eaton electric locker and 456 gears, I decided to put on a 1450 yolk/ u-joint,(before measuring to see just how it would clear).
I just finished racking my brain to see if I could fit the J-20 fuel tank under the bed. It has a relief in the area of the d-shaft. It would take some figuring to get the filler neck connected. Just found out none of my sending units are working, GURH!
Things were going good till I found the clearance issue and the leaking stock fuel tank.
I was able to start the beast before I removed the fuel and the tank. I did get some fun.
Oh well, one step forward, two steps back.
As we used to say in the corps. "fall back, jack it up, and hit it again!"

No problem with an NP200 and a center mounted shaft either....4 inches or so...

People with the 14 bolt rear and NP205 have not had clearance issues either. It is close, but not going to touch unless something breaks. Mine with the stock rear and center 200 output is like the others listed above.
Remember if you didn't build it you can't call it yours.
