Thread: Body bushings

    Default Body bushings

OK were these trucks made with body bushings? This probably sounds like a dumb question, but the truck I'll be buying soon doesn't have any. In fact the cab isn't bolted down, or at least not all the way. So I way going to get/order some poly ones to put under the cab. Will Jeep CJ type bushings be about right? Or does someone have a number handy for some that work?

    Thanks

Ahh...Yeah I figured that they would work, or could be made to. I never really thought about the bed though. It's bolted down already, will it be worth the time to install bushings there as well?

Most people use body bushings throughout the truck. It's actually very cheap and easy to fab some using a boat roller and saw. For less than 25.00 I made about 18 of them at 3/4" each. They are pretty solid and give a really firm feel during cornering. No shifting or squeeking....and did I mention it was cheap??? I just marked the 3/4" inch measurement on the deck of my chop saw and started zipping them out, 20 minutes later, ta-da...body mounts.

I had completely forgotten about doing it that way. Boat rollers have worked out pretty well in the past. Thanks for the reminder.

OK I should have asked this the first time around, but I wasn't in a thinking mode. Does anyone know what the height of the bushings are?
