Ah, the sight of fresh 24087 in the morning!

Good job. Are you going to add the markings back on the vehicle? If so I can hook you up! http://www.i2k.com/~schwarzd/

    Beast,
I am kind of up in the air about the stock military markings. Everywhere I go, I get lots of attention. Not bad thing, but it sometimes makes it hard to just stop by the hardware store and get out quick. I am concerned that it may attract even more attention if I mark it.

    K8icu,

They are the stock seats. I fabricated headrests to fit into the seat backs. When I rebuilt the seats, I added tubes in the seat backs to accommodate corresponding rods from the headrests. Added padding, canvas and slid them in. I like the stock look with modern convenience.

Do you have pics or for the seat mod you did? I would really like to see a close up of those head rests and how you did them.

Almost forgot very nice looking, did you paint it yourself?

Yeah, I painted it myself. Painting was easy, prep was time consuming.
I did an experiment with the finish. I sprayed three smooth coats of paint and topped it with two coats that were intentionally "orange peel" texture. I tried to match the current "texture" that Oshkosh Mil Vehicles have. I was at one of their factories a while back and asked one of the painters how they get the finish. He indicated that they have the machines set to intentionally mist the finish after they lay down a few coats to get a matte texture.
It worked out pretty well. I cuts down on the gloss and it is still smooth enough to repel dust. I like it.
