    alot of the engine noise on these trucks comes from the engine fan it is turning super fast when you are around 50 and it makes alot of noise. I drive my truck at 50 and it does generate a good bit of noise and for someone new it is so different than any civ vehicle it can be disconcerning. I have had mine to 60 before (that is where the governor kicks in) I didnt keep it there, but I had driven mine at 55 for a long period before.

    Well I'm happy to say that I followed the advice of the knowledgable board guru's and got my rig up to 55mph. After I knew that the noise was OK and I confirmed the proper operation of the Hi and Lo ranges, it was out to the highway for the test. Thanks to all who responded. Now I have to figure out why the power steering isn't working.....kidding!
