Thread: M715 Siren

    Default M715 Siren

Does anyone have any info on a siren used for the M715? I have seen one on an eBay truck mounted in front of the windshield in the center. It was a smaller unit than ones seen on M37s and M38s and I believe it had a small red flasher. My truck has the original holes drilled for it and I was thinking of replacing it someday...when my wife gives me the money

There wasnt one stock on any of the trucks....

I mounted one on mine, though I dont have a pic at the moment...it is a Federal Signal unit that fits in the recess of the passenger fender ahead of the tire.

I added one under the hood the same as Brute4c. It works great for parades. There was some talk long ago about using another B/O light mounting plate to add a siren to the hood on the passenger side. Mounting one on the cowling means that the windshield can not be folded down.

I've seen a few pictures, besides the truck that was on eBay, of original Air Force Security M715s and they all had this siren mounted in front of the windshield. It is much smaller than the 1950s version you see on M37s. I was curious as to which model it was. It looks to be close to the size of the horn, just elongated about 8-10 inches long with a similar circumference.

My truck used to have one mounted. I'm trying (very slowly) to replace the original equipment.

    Default Siren

I have seen small sirens mounted under the hood on the wheel well on the passenger side. The ones I have seen are about the size of a horn and usually full of dirt dobber nest.

    Fixed it 4 U.

My truck has both a horn and a siren, thanks to the fire house that modified it. If your truck has mounting holes, they came from a modification that included the installation of a siren at some point after the original equipment left the factory.

My siren...guess its not Federal Signal like I thought...

I have been wanting to mount it on top of the hood, opposite the blackout light. It will fit on the same base plate, though it needs new holes drilled to mount it...I have a spare one for just such a purpose...havent been able to get to that...
