I've seen people run 12 volt alternators on the 24 volt systems. What would be the best one to put on the truck?

A lot of guys use the GM one wire types because they are easy to wire in and put out a good amount of amps...pretty much the same to wire up and put a belt on.
I was thinking how a 12v alternator can charge a 24v system? (2 batterys)
They can't. Most 12v alts are add ons for accessorys. Or the truck was converted to 12v.
I was thinking conversion too.
Of course theres the dual setup where there are both 12 and 24 volt alts and 3 batteries...still a conversion but not just one way or the other.
Then how does a boat alternator (12 volt) charge the batteries for 24 and 36 volt electric trolling motor system???? I hate electrical systems......
