    Im putting a 454 in my 715 I understand that u can use a plate of steel and the orginal mounts. I dropped in my engine just sitting on orginal mounts.The engine is to high,the bell housing will not fit.Does anybody have a pic of a bbc installed this way.Mostly the engine mounts.thanks

    I know some guys do a small body lift on the cab only for clearance. Then the cab lines up with the bed as well.

    I used the Novak weld in mounts and I have no clearance issues.

    i used the stock mounts at first, but the angle didnt seem to match the angle of the v8. i did put on a 3" bodylift on the cab only. probably not to popular, but i thought it made the bed match the cab better. with my recent rebuild i made new mounts.

    Using the stock 230 mounts and a 1/4" plate to connect them up to the 3 bolts on the block of the engine works great. Dozens of us have done this with big blocks.

    How far back did you put the engine? I have enough room to put a full size 9/16" combination wrench between the firewall and the distributor tie down on mine. I also have a short water pump on mine, mechanical fan and a 2" spacer for the fan to be up near the radiator.

    Edelbrock intake, Edelbrock carb and a '51 Cadillac air filter all fit under the hood of mine.
    Remember if you didn't build it you can't call it yours.

    i just set my engine in just to see what i need to do.i think i scrapped my 230 mounts i guess i need a set.

    When I did my Big Block Chevy, the original frame mounts were torched off.

    I ended up with the new mounts I made about 2 inches ahead of the originals and a little lower, just to keep the driveline lined up from the short shaft TH400 to the NP200. Everything I've ever added or wanted to add fits under the hood just fine this way, and I use an HEI distributor with plenty of room in the back near the firewall.
