The 70's era Dodges...last year for the 440 being 77...used divorced 205s...meaning there is a driveshaft, really short one, between the transmission and the t-case...so a 2wd yoke on the back of the trans and a yoke on the 205 input...

Not to argue with the the grand wizzard, but 70's erra dodge trucks used a NP 203 transfer which was a full time 4 wheel drive set up. i.e. the Dodge M880 military truck. It was also was not married to the transmission although through it might as well have been devorced. A 205 transfer case should bolt right in.

A divorced 203 would be cool. Build a doubler to a regular married 205.
Also, the 203 t-case is pretty long. 203/205 doubler is the same length as the 203 by itself.

Not to argue...he said he has a 203 and wants a 205...the Dodges I have seen in the 70's with 205 are divorce mount (from early like 73 or 74 to 78 or so...I have one in the shop from a 77) unlike the 203's which are married...so that would be an issue with a swap...need trans work or swap to make the 205 go in where the 203 was...

I think I understood the question right...maybe not?

Dodge 203 has a 23 spline female input shaft. Most Dodge 205's have a 23 spline male input shaft and would require an adaptor (to match 435 to 205 bolt pattern) with a 23 spline coupler.
