Thread: Brake Upgrades?

    Default Brake Upgrades?

OK from what I am finding out the people think the disk brake kits are gold, I haven't tore into the truck yet to see if somthing could be fabricated (noob). I know a couple of tricks from my wheeling experance to make drums perform better, but I was just wondering if anyone has tried a hydro-boost set up to get some more clamping force on the drums. I have one on the shelf I never got around to instaling on the CJ. What do you guys think?

Hydroboost works great. So does vacuum boosters.

As long as you aren't going to be in the mud, the drum brakes stop the truck great. but, with no adjusters besides you and a brake spoon, they need to be maintained on a regular basis. Plus, water and mud make them not work until they dry out. Mud and grit will strip the shoes clean in no time unlike disc as well.
Remember if you didn't build it you can't call it yours.
