    Default gas tanks swap

i have my motor/trans/tcase swap in and am working a few bugs out. i decided to change the stock gas tank out and came up with a good raplacement that others may be able to use. i used saddle tanks out of a 75 chevy step side truck. the tanks tucks in betwine the two cross members in the front half of the bed. i mounted them very high with brackets off my frame and they look very nice.

at this time i only have one in place but when i get time i will mount the second and put the tank solecter switch on the dash. the finished product is two gas tanks with common parts and cheep. i will try to get pics when i get time if anyone is interested.

I'd like to see some pics of how you mounted it. Did you run the filler neck out of the stock location?

no i ran the filler neck to the bottom of the fenderwell. i cut a small notch in it to make the filler higher then the inlet on the tank. it took a bit of work to get the tank in. i forgot to mention that i have a body lift if that maters.

So what is the capacity of each tank?

If I remember correctly , capacity should be 15 gallons each . Thats what was in my 76 .

you are correct they are 15 gallon tanks. that is the only bad thing about it, you can only have 30 gallons under the truck but that is nothing a couple jerry cans cant fix.

my printer is not working at the time but i will post pics when i can.

i just finnished my motor/tran/tcase swap. i made my own motor mounts out of part of a stock chevy frame/motor mount, this let me use full length headers for a chevy truck. the motor is a 454 and it looks factory in the truck, with a body lift i didnt have to beat my firewall at all. i went with dual electric 10'' 3000 cfm fans and the stock radiator and so far all is well.

i cut the factory xmember for the stock trany out and made my own for my 465 so i can run my 3'' pipe strait out from my headers all the way to my mufflers. i also put cut-outs at the header collector for the hell of it. the clutch linkage is all factory chevy.

the xcase mounts are made so the 3'' pipe can run without a bend along side the np 202 with a p.t.o. also.

other odds and ends are a msd box in the batt box with dual batteries, custom front bumper/warn winch, lights under hood, electric feul pump, tach, cigarett lighter, 12v output in the dash.

Is this the same truck you gave me a ride around the block in when I picked up those NTDs? It's come a long way, if so!
