    Default Michelin XML Tires

    Guys,

Just wondering if anyone knows for sure (YEAR) when Michelin XML tires went into production? I assume when XL's were discontinued, Michelin followed up with something else. Was the XML or the XZL next in line after the XL? When were the XL's discontinued?

Do they still make XML's? Do these tires all have date codes?? Thanks....any info would be helpful!

    Default XML's

I know this is an old question. But it is the one I find myself asking today.

Tires become unserviceable when there is not enough tread left, or there is dry rot. As I understand it dry rot (visible cracks in the tire) are an unavoidable result of old age. If XML's were discontinued a decade ago, why is the market rate $300 a piece?

Is there a production date code on the tires?

Is there a new manufacture alternative for stock M715 folks?

    Thanks,

But HMMWV tires are 16.5, and I still want to use the stock 16 inch M715 rims

It looks like to me the way to go is Falken WildPeak. I wish they were a little bigger, and I wish they looked more aggressive. But, I they get pretty good reviews, and hopefully by the time they wear out, I will be ready to swap my axles to handle surplus HMMWV tires.

If you have thoughts about this, I would cherish them.

    Thanks

They look like all season tires and would not look good on an M715. The whole point of the truck is to have aggressive tires, no matter the cost, or road handling characteristics. But I might consider them too, if they are just temporary, and cheap?

Here is where I purchased mine: http://www.trailworthyfab.com/8-Bolt...l-w-TIRES.html

My suggestion is to pay the extra and get each half painted OD. He will sandblast the entire rim after he welds them, before they go to powder coating..

I looked at those a while back. The complaint about warranty by treadwright of the tire kept me away. Keep us updated on how you like them
