I used the FSJ underhood mount, just to the side of the radiator. It kinda sucks seeing the battery under there but I didn't want to take up bed space and the short run of battery cables made a huge improvement in cranking speed.

I have had the battery on the firewall like the Chevy trucks in the '60's did, on the FSJ mount by the radiator, on a custom mount by the radiator and now it is on a custom mount behind the passenger seat.

I agree about the longer cable making starting slower. Mine is a lot slower with it behind the seat.

Yup, mine's in the FSJ battery location, too. Handy, since I'm running an AMC 360. Everything just fits right together.

Sounds like I should move it, like I was thinking of doing. Behind the seat is almost like stock, I just couldn't make up my mind about having the batteries back in the cab. I have my battery box in the cab, but it's used as a console/ radio box/ catch all. I'm wondering about the under hood location next to the rad for the winch batt, maybe a yellow top, and put the cranking batt on the firewall, as I have a 'Ford' P/U heater in the cab. Yes/No????? Thanks for your input guys.

My batteries are in the bed....but I used "00" size battery cables....cranks and starts just like when stock.

There is also room under the passenger side of the bed. Just hard to get to opposite the fuel tank. I have M35 air tanks there on mine otherwise my battery would be living there right now.
