Default Do you know anything about this winch.

It is a Ramsey, model number 246R-629, a friend gave it to me. It is in pretty nice shape and is useable as it. It is only 8,000 Lb. rated. It leaks a little oil but I have a rebuild kit, gasket set for it. Would you use it on the front of your truck? I have a T-98 Pto, and maybe looking to get the shifter for it that comes thru the floor. I also was able to get the driveshaft stuff. It looks useable with maybe a couple new joints. What do you know about this? Thanks for your input. Fisherman

I have a Ramsey PTO winch also. Not sure on the model number, but it says 8000 lb rated on the winch tag. If I didn't have my Garwood, then the Ramsey was going to be the winch I put up front. I might put the Ramsey in the rear later. I would think they are strong enough for our trucks. Stock winch was 8K wasn't it?

    Yes!!!!

This number (246R-629) looks similar to the one on my J10 (X246-10R lever-operated winch). It should be covered by one of the pdf's linked below.

    http://www.ramsey.com/automotive/manuals.html

For Category select Industrial Winches from the drop down list

For Product select one of the first thee 200/H-200 from the drop down list.

Select any Part Number --- they all point to the same pdf

These three are the 8000lb winches of that vintage.

Todd --- I also emailed a pdf directly to you

    Enjoy
