    Default Jeep Cherokee

Are early 1980's (1981 I believe) 2 door Jeep Cherokees valuable or worth anything? I know of one for $900 in great condition. Haven't seen it but apparently it is real nice.

I haven't seen many 2 door ones...and for $900, sounds like I could flip it on Ebay for twice that!

    Any ideas or comments?

I want another one, I'd pay $900 for it. I miss mine.

The FSJ Widetrack 2 door Cherokees have been climbing now for a couple years. I've seen very nice examples bring 5k on ebay and I've seen a couple locally break 4k. I paid a grand for my last one and shipped it in from Rhode Island non-running just to get a rust free unit(turned out to be a minor electrical problem) and I sold it for $2200 a year later.

IF it's nice, basically rust free, V-8, auto it's worth way more than $900. If it's a Golden Eagle package it's an absolute steal. If it's got the big engine and all the power options buy it quick before I find out where it is.

Note, do a by-years search for Cherokee on ebay now and you can see what people are trying to get for them. First one I saw wasn't a very good looking yellow one with a Buy It Now price of 3k...

If it's a wide track (has fender flares front and rear) and is rust free, it's worth the $$. It should have an AMC360 unless someone swapped in a 401. Look underneath the motor mounts. The displacement is cast in the block.

    Ok...

I am going to look at it tonight. Apparently it is all original, leather interior - no rips or tears. Cold air conditioning. Laredo model. He claims it has steel flared fenders. 90,000 original miles. 360 V8/auto, quadra track. Just tuned up with new plugs, cap, rotor, wires, etc. Beige exterior with very little if any rust. Good tires. Runs great and "looks great for its age." The guy is flexible on price as well...if it looks nice and runs well I will offer him like $750 and clean it up and try to resell it on Ebay etc. If I can make a few hundred, all the better!! I'd love to keep it but I have no space at all!

I paid $1,400 for my 1980 Laredo 6 months ago, it had only 94,000 miles on it when I bought it. The Laredo's were a step up from the Chief's and all were wide-tracks, $900 is a steal for it if it is indeed what the seller claims. I wouldn't hesitate about getting it.....................

If it's got Quadratrac, it's not an '81.

As long as I can buy it and flip it, I will be a happy man. I am going to look at it in the dark...if it looks good, I will go back tomorrrow during the day for a better look. The guy has already said he is negotiable. That being said, I hope to get it for $800...

If I had the space, I'd keep it and put historical tags on it and pay $30 a year to insure it! I am bursting at the seams at this point, so I'd have to sell it. There does seem to be a following with Cherokees and Grand Cherokees etc.
