Well, it's probably a whopping 185hp or so for one thing. Probably weaker than what you have. Beyond that it'll need an O2 sensor.
Pros:
Cheap upgrades available: cams, mostly. Can buy reflashed ECU's too.
No more messing with jets
Closed loop, tunes itself for altitude
Very simple TBI
Time-tested and easy to install.
All the sensors are on the engine itself (O2 MAY be in the downpipe, but usually in the headers)
Cons:
ECU not all that tunable, except for those custom chips (couple hunnert $)
Not huge power.
A few caveats though: None of the three TBI engines I own, in fullsize Chevy's, have left me wanting more power. None of them have developed any funky sensor issues either. Also, 2 of the 3 have the O2 sensor in the exhaust manifold, one has it after the Y in the exhaust.
Very easy to install, it's a standalone computer and a closed loop system. It's install and forget. I am a huge fan of TBI setups for trucks like ours because they do the job, very well, are cheap enough, and reliable as heck.
my $0.02, your experience may differ. I have probaly put about 700k on TBI vehicles in the last 10years.
If done, where would be the most serviceable location for the CPU/brain?

Taco, I'm picking on his TBI because he has a 350 4bbl in there already and he's griped about it since he bought it. Me, I drove the dog snot out of it and never had any problems.
Unless the ECU is weatherproof, you want it inside the cab.
The one that is in it smokes and loses oil pressure. BUTit may still be in warranty???????????

Ethan: The ECU is usually mounted in or under the glovebox. Also, they can be waterproofed the Sisson way, by putting them in Tupperware.
RJenkins: If it's warrantied, swap it out and have fun w/a carb. You're probably old enough to love tuning them anyway. heheheh
The warranty thing was a jab at 2nda. Its hard to get his BP up.
Actually, tuning a TBI setup isn't TOO hard. If you can desolder the chip and solder in a new eprom, your just about good to go.
I have been considering doing just that with my TBI setup on my AMC.
