Thread: Speedo recalibration

    Default Speedo recalibration

Is there anyway to recalibrate the speedo when going to 11.00 16's and stock gears?

You'd have to change the speedo drive gear or get a drive gear adapter to do that. I looked into that when I changed to my VDO gauges.

The SMART thing to do, WHICH I DIDN'T (dumbass self), would be to go to an electric speedo so you can calibrate it by pushing a button. But did I do that? No.....I'm just a dumbass!

There is a way to do it, I have a spare gear from a NP 200 already out. I just need to take it to my local Chevy/Dodge dealer and play "do you have this with x number of teeth" with them.

I indicate 48 when chase vehicles constantly tell me I am going 54. I forgot the number of teeth on the stock gear, but I think if we can get one with 1 or 2 more teeth, it will get us real close to where it should be. Give me a few days to find it and I will try to get by the dealer next week.

Get ahold of a GPS and you'll be able to figure out precisely how fast you're going!

Having the speedo right sure does make it nice when driving through town. Instead of guessing, you will know if you are speeding or not.

I took stuff off the M35 today in the rain and didn't go looking for the speedo gear. Hopefully, Sunday.

Tim, if you are`talking about the driven(pencil) gear then would
'nt you need less teeth to make it read faster?

I have the stock 200 speedo drive gear in my go to work back pack. I will post what I find when I have a chance to go by there this week.
