Yes the duel system would be safer, but XJ may want to keep the truck all stock and original. There are some people out there who do want the truck as it was when it rolled out of the factory.

I have a question and I know its been covered before but since we are starting fresh here on the new Zone.... Would a J10 MC be better than a Vet/Chevy one. I ask in would it be an easier fast switch than having to modify with the GM MC?

It would have to be pre 74 as Jeep went to disc then so all the post 74 units are disc/drum and that doesnt work for a drum drum system...

What Master cylinder would we use if we wanted power brakes?

I change to a duel system. Used a small booster from a chev pickup and vet master. Also used a mount block from a Jeep wagener to mount the booster to the fire wall.

Would like to remain stock but I do have an M726 master from AB that I can use if I have to.

    Thanks,

Not for anything, aren't you running the Vette master cylinder? I thought you had it working? I went back to my stock m/c and it bled effortlessly. I adjusted the brakes on all fours with spoon and can lock up them tires if I want depending on how forceful I push the pedal...I am so happy I tossed that vette master cylinder!

My brakes are bone stock and work great. Not the norm on these trucks, to be sure, but it just goes to show that even the stock manual brakes can lock 'em up too.

You have to regularly adjust the brakes as per the manual. There are no automatic adjusters on the drums.

Do it and you will have very impressive braking considering the type of brakes and weight of the the truck.

Regarding Jtruck brake parts, I'm using the booster, MC, lines, block and all from this parts truck. The last one I had was the same way and I was pretty sure the deal was you can't stick a drum MC onto a vehicle with disks, but you can put a disc MC onto drums? I remember doing this to old cars back in the early 80's, too...
