Default LS Engine to SM465 and Divorced NP205

Reaching out to anyone who has successfully mated an LS engine to an SM465 and divorced NP205. How did your conversion go? Did you go with a hydraulic clutch? Any lessons learned? Not sure if I'm getting over my head, but I am replacing my entire drivetrain with more modern components. I have gathered most of the major components, but am deciding whether to rebuild an aluminum block 5.3 vortec sitting in the corner of my workshop or go with a new LS3 engine.

The 465 had a mechanical clutch. The stock M715 linkage could probably be made to work.

I like hydraulic clutches and have made 3 different set ups work on 3 different M715’s. But, simple normally wins so if you can make the mechanical bits fit, go for it.

What gear ratio axles are you going with? I ask because an overdrive really is nice for driving above 50 mph.
Remember if you didn't build it you can't call it yours.
