    Default M725 passenger flip seat???

Interesting find last night while working on the latest M725. I never knew the passenger seat folded forward at the seat base. It appears that the designers had it set to fold and someone decided against it as there are two welds near the rear keeping it from folding. Probably for safety to keep the passenger from getting ejected through the windshield in a crash. This was most likely to make easy access to the back compartment and it even has a built-in step on top. Someone on this M725 cut those welds as can be seen in a couple of the pics. And then comparing them to the pics of my other M725 which still is welded shut. I always assumed that it was the same passenger base as the M715 but it is not. There is a hinge all along the front not found on the M715. Who else has a M725 where someone cut the welds?

The passenger seat on my new M725

On my other M725, the welds are still there

Yes, it's amazing that 50 years later we are still finding new little things on these trucks. I even searched in the parts manuals to see if it showed a different part number between the M715 and the M725 and it only shows the M715 passenger seat base.

I’ve checked the 2 m725’s I have access to. Both have the hinge, both welded.
