Thread: Unknown hoses/wires

    Default Unknown hoses/wires

Popped the hood and found this rubber hose with a bolt at one end that leads to the carburetor. Is this normal and what’s it purpose? Then I have the cut vacuum line coming out of the firewall. I thought it might have something to do with windshield wipers but not sure. Thirdly, the cut wires on the harness? Is that for the hood blackout light?

    Thanks!

If you have a volt meter or test light, putting the 3 lever light switch in blackout headlight position and checking for power at one of those wires will tell you that part...

The hose with the bolt I think is the PCV valve hose...if it is, then it hooks to the side of the oil fill tower on top of the valve cover at the front.

The one at the firewall. the only vacuum line going into the truck is for the wipers. Is there a line on the top of the vacuum pump hooked to the wiper port? If not, then thats where it wants to go...if so, follow whatever is hooked there and see where it goes. If you look down at the top of the fuel/vacuum pump, next to the port on top of the unit, cast into the housing it says manifold on one port and wipers on the other.

Where the two wires are cut is the two wire harness that goes down to the brake light switch at the "T". Right behind where that two wire harness comes out of the main branch, right up against the firewall grommet should be a single wire for the black out drive light.
