Thread: Steering wheel removal. Special tool?

Default Steering wheel removal. Special tool?

I want to remove my steering wheel for some bench restoration and my small gear puller will not clear the wide collar to go down and clip onto the end of the steering wheel hub. Noticed two small holes in the bottom the steering wheel neck near the large threaded shaft after I removed the large nut. Do I go to the auto parts store and get a larger steering wheel puller? Or is there a special tool that bolts into these two small holes?
I'm looking through my on line manuals and haven't found a clear cut direction. Some threads on steering column restoration just mention "remove steering wheel" and that doesn't address the how to of it.
I'll hang up and listen. If it's covered in another thread, just post the link. If not, it might be a possible sticky thread if someone can do a walk through. If there is not one, I may take plenty of pics as I remove my horn button and then the steering wheel for future generations.
