No real progress for the week. I'm back to work after the holidays so I don't have as much time as I'd like. I'm still not completely finished with my plumbing but I'm optimistic I can wrap it up in the morning

Today I took a drive to the middle of the state to pick up a rusty hard top and a windshield. I'm not sure I'll use either but figured I could decide once I had them home. Once the plumbing is done I hope to get the garage cleaned up enough to get the truck inside at last.

Well thats fixable. One thing at a time. That ring gear picture. Is the the rear axle? That is a Powr-Loc limited slip differential. In my small insignificant opinion that is the best LSD made. Designed by Thornton and Spicer, Thornton designed the Studebaker cars. They are adjustable with changing the ratio of curved and flat clutch disc's. My rear Dodge came with a Powr-Loc. Funny thing is the serial number on it was 715.. Ha When you put diff oil in, only add small amounts of LSD additive a little bit at a time and only if it chatters or lunges on a hard corner. The additive makes it slip more and sometimes the recommended amount makes them not work as well. You will like that back there in slippery stuff. My first original truck would get stuck on a wet leaf.
So good progress. Watching with interest and hoping you keep moving along on it. And don't feel bad. I just discovered I have two leaking toilets at the floor seal. yuk.. So, I can relate..

Thanks for the info Kaiserjeeps. I was excited to learn the rear axle already had a form of traction aid. It's good to know at least some people even like it. I assume I will be in that camp as well.

I am contemplating if I will add a selectable locker in the front axle. I don't know that I will though because this isn't really being built to be a serious off road wheeler. I'm sure an open front differential will be fine for as much off roading I expect this will get by me.

I don't have any leaks so far in my plumbing fix but time will tell I suppose. At the risk of embarrassing myself, the last time I thought I had it fixed it started leaking after about three weeks. I "think" I did it better this time. I didn't get out in the garage though. I'm hoping tomorrow I will have some garage time again.

I'm cautiously optimistic that this truck build will continue until completion.

I'm not sure if a build thread is the right place to ask this question but where are people getting their seat covers from these days? I was thinking I should order some seat covers to make my seats look presentable.

I just got a response from New Life Canvas. They are not taking new orders currently.

"New Life Canvas is placing a temporary hold on all NEW orders while we reduce our backlog and shorten our production lead times."

I'm not sure what my plan is at the moment. One of my trucks had H1 seats. I remember those being fairly comfortable but slightly too tall for the cab.

I ordered my top from new life in feb. the lead time was July. I finally got it a week or two ago. Good work, just a long time

I ended up getting mine ordered today from here. I think he said 2-3 weeks.
