Yes, PLEASE do not cut up original fenders! Once they are cut, they are gone and there will be no more originals.

I would like to avoid it too Elwenil; the fenders that I have are in great shape. That's why I was interested in Tacoma's post as well as the suggetions to use Waggy fenders.

Me too, but then, I've been eyeing with some interest the possibility of a civvie cab on the 715 chassis. Might actually be able to hear the radio!

Ugh, that's just too unoriginal to me. Besides, part of the whole fun to me in owning a M715 is the soft top and military looks. I can get a J4000 right now, but I really don't like the J series styling.

If I do another 715, it's going to be a 6bt powered, Jcabbed daily driver. Soft tops don't cut it in thie 13* snowy weather.

Of course I already did the jcab thing. Got to get an older truck with the eyebrow. Makes it so much meaner looking!
I did it because I had a cj5 with cruddy tops for years and years, mud, snow, ice, monsoons, etc. I wanted a REAL cab for the m715.
It does lose the military look though. But you can only have it one way or the other. Or make a GOOD metal top for the m715.

Oh yeah, for my truck I was going to cut up the fenders all the way to the hood line to fit BIG tires and keep it low.
What I imagined doing was something along the lines of this, but moving the flare back to the firewall and up to the hood line. I figured some cheap wag fenders and some sheet metal would be the easiest method for this.
