Default Anyone in Virginia have advice for titling M725?

Hi all! I'm new to the M715zone and new to the M7xx trucks, but not new to FSJ's or old cars. I recently purchased what I believe to be a 1967 M725. Unfortunately the data plates are all gone, but the serial numbers are still on the frame. I've never bought a car with out a title because I've always been terrified to try and get one. However, I'm simply head over heels for this 725, and will tag it, drive it, restore it, and love it at all costs.

I'm certain that a great number of you are familiar with getting a title for one of these beasts, but states vary so much I was hoping someone from VA specifically may have some tips.

I was wondering if a notarized bill of sale from a state that doesn't require a title may be best? Or perhaps just go through my DMV with the serial number and "Jeep Pick-up" would work? I want to avoid any talk of military or 5/4 ton. That seems to be a hang up with others. As far as I know it's a 1/2 ton jeep truck, I mean it's 6 lug right?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you guys!
