I decided to try and fix my light switch today. I pulled the it and took it apart. About a pita to take apart but did it. I soldered a jumper wire on the fuse that it had inside. It worked. My lights do not shut off now. Well worth the time.

Good job! I guess the thing to beware of (if I remember correctly), is that fuse is the only fuse in the wiring harness. It may serve you well to put an inline fuse on the feed into that switch.
Your old fuse in the switch could have been worn, or there could be a high current draw due to a loose, corroded, or high resistant connection.
Other will chime in if I am remembering this incorrectly though
