M715 model is in the works!!!!!
Post by brute4c on Sept 28, 2006, 10:19am
GREAT NEWS!!
I have received a couple of emails and have been told it is okay to spill the beans on this....
There is a company in Germany that is designing a scale model of the M715 to be out, hopefully in 2007 sometime. Right now they are working up the first prototype and asking questions about scale and such...there will be more detail questions, most likey, as time goes on.
I dont have the scale of the final model as yet or any ideas on price or where we can buy them but that will come.
The company seems very interested in the Vietnam use as opposed to just stateside use. They did check out the image of the downed aircraft with the M715 in the image in the Active Duty Gallery and traced the planes tail letters down and sure enough, it is a Vietnam outfit that the plane was assigned to.
As I can give more info, I will do so!!!
Wow.....I cant wait!!

Sounds great. As far as scales go the most popular in the military modeling community would be 1/35. That would then fit scale with all the major kits offered by Tamiya, Dragon, Revell and so on. That would be great to have. It would fit in with my collection of 1/35 military vehicles. Another popular scale is 1/18 this is the scale of most collector cars. This would be the scale of items like diecast cars or the popular line of 1/18 military vehilces produces by 21st Century toys and BBi toys. Here is the link to the 1/18 M715 I built this summer out of several different vehicles. A diecast Jeep Wagoneer, and 21st Century's WC51 Dodge, and thier M151 Mutt. http://www.davidallenracing.com/M715model.htm

A few Q's to pass on...
What will they be made of?
Kit form, or pre assembled?
Scale/size would be nice to know when you find out.
They have any other MV's?

Heres the answer:
[Quote:]The model will be made of industrial resin. It is very similar to plastic
and is widely used in short-run production scale models.
It will be a kit, you have to assemble and paint it. It is similar to a
plastic kit, perhaps you have already built some. Of course some skills
are needed (we are considering the possibility to sell assembled and painted
models depending on the demand, of course much more expensive as it is
completelly handmade).
It is in 1/35 scale. This is the standard scale for military scale models.
Nowadays we are producing an Unimog 404. You can find more info here:

1/35 will be awesome, it will fit with the rest of my collection. Being a resin kit be prepared for $$$$. Most full resin kits sell for around $100, with some kits with super high detail going for close to $300. Brute you ought to see if they will give zoners a discount for our provided information from the site. I would love to grab around 10 of these kits myself but being resin I know I'll only be able to get half of what I want.

I would vote for the 1/35 scale. More accessories are available for dioramas and such. Can't wait for this. I have a scale model of every vehicle I own except this one.
