Thread: Repairing The Worn Fuel Pump Lever

    Default Repairing The Worn Fuel Pump Lever

    We had a discussion about the fuel pump lever and pin wearing beyond use. Since I had a pump that was worn that way I went ahead to repair it. Quite simple really.

    A pump and lever with worn pin and oval pivit hole;

    You purchase a spacer (bushing) from many sources. Mine is MSC #67712232. The hole is .250 just like the pin. You also need a short 1/4" Bolt and nut. Not shown are two small holes drilled into the bushing for oiling.

    Place the bushing into the lever as shown and bolt it into place. Put the oil holes at the top. I had to shave/file about .020 off the bushing end for a snug fit. Make sure you bolt it at the BOTTOM of the oval hole which is the original place for the pin.

    Mig weld the bushing on both sides and then remove the bolt;

    Bushing hole is now aligned at the proper place;

    Check for alignment with the pin. No need to replace the worn pin as the bushing is now riding where the pin is not worn;

    Done!!! Assemble your pump.
