Thread: windshield glass from VPW

  1. #1

    Default windshield glass from VPW

After seeing all those crates of glass, I'm wondering if anyone has bought a windshield and had it shipped? Mine us starting to delaminate, and wonder if it would be worth getting an nos one, or having a glass place cut one for me.

I wonder about the safety glass factor.

I dont know if the NOS ones are "laminated"

    I saw those too...

Mine is frosting at the base, as well.

    Price?

Call your local glass place and get some prices.

I'd go local. My FIL runs a commercial glass shop, and says he'll do mine free the next time he has some safety glass left over! Flat square glass has got to be cheaper than shipping!

I'm pretty sure they're all safety. That's why they "fog"- the outer glass delaminating from the plastic sandwich.

I paid less than $100 to replace mine with new glass.

Same here! I think I paid $85 for glass and install into frame. I supplied new windshield rubber though which is getting harder to find. Go local

Same here, it has to be far cheaper and less risky to just have a local glass place make it. I think the one they did for the M715 was around $80 and the M725 was $130 for the front and rear doors when I had mine made.

Me too. Fast and about $75 here with me supplying the template and rubber.

ALL windshields since the 20's at least are laminated safety glass...it was used in Model T's if not before.

Only someone who wanted to be sued to oblivion would have made a non laminated windshield in the last 75 years or more.
