I would not trust it. What gear is it ?
First Gear??
I have seen worse, but if you can get a gear I would replace it, some of the chips are rather large, but as long as you don't try to shift on the fly into First you should be fine as well, get rid of any burrs as well
Can you dress the rough spots with a dremil? Might help with smoother shifts until you get a chance to replace the gear.
Do any of the other gears look like that?
So how goes the search for gears? As a second to last resort ,I have 3 spare tranny`s I will check for you, if you can`t find better gears. As I have 4,soon to be 5 of these trucks, 2 of which I trail ride with regularly, I will need them eventually, but I believe your truck deserves the best gears this zone can deliver. So let me know before you think of putting your gears back in. I will start pulling covers and if I have a better set they are yours.

Like they say on the John Boy and Billy radio show, "not too good".
Thanks for the kind words.
The consensus that I have gotten from members here, and over at SteelSoldiers.com, as well as a few old time jeepers is that
"They all look like that, your gears are less than ideal, but should be OK as long as they aren't abused any further"
That said, I would like to get a much better set, and I will pay well to get them.
If you can pull the covers off of the three loose transmissions that you have to check for me, that would be great.
I would run them (with a magnetic drain plug), while keeping an eye for a replacement.
