Thread: Wire suggestion - THHN

    Smile Wire suggestion - THHN

So on this perfect Labor Day weekend, I decided to add electric wipers to the truck meaning I had to delve into the meter panel birds nest. Long story short, during its life as a fire service vehicle, someone with a nail clipper and kindergarten paste spliced and patched the electric system. So once again, I will rewire a vehicle.

Before I start, does anyone have a suggestion for wire other than stranded THHN?
I plan to go back to boots for my connections.

Any good ideas people have thought of after they finished a similar job?
I'm on a 12v already and decided to keep it that way.

I myself would probably use XHHW-2. Mainly because it is easy to find here locally and is pretty durable in cold weather. I have used THHN myself many times in my Jeep because that is what I could scavenge from job sites over the years. I prefer the XHHW-2 insulation properties though. The nylon outer jacket has broken off most all the THHN I have used on my Jeep.
