Default Heater Core Replacement - PN 399241

    Hi There,
Now that it is going to be summer in Minnesota, I thought it would be perfect timing to fix my heat . Last weekend I replaced my heater core with Ready-Aire part number 399241 as I saw it referenced in the forum as a good replacement part that is readily available. One quick note to anyone needing to do this, you do have to make some slight modifications to the heater box as the inlet/outlet tube placement does not match up. It is a 5 minute fix with a Dremel and fits perfectly once you enlarge the tube openings. I figured this might save someone a few minutes of frustration trying to get everything to match up without making the modification. See attached picture for reference.

Thanks for the heads up. Got the original 1984 wagoneer heat and A/C bolted up, only have a/c fan wired so far. Is the linkage to the heater's flapper door necessary if the fan motor is not blowing when the a/c is on? The a/c has its on duct system and is not fed by the heater.

    Do you have defrost vents?

I would think that you would not need the linkage to the heater flapper door in that case, just remove the door or rig it to always be open.

Yes, I do have defrost vents as well.
