Thread: Speedo cable

  1. #1

    Default Speedo cable

I've just realised why my speedometer doesn't work - I've got no cable!
Anyone know of one that'll fit (Cherokee, Reo)?

Rumor has that a LONG cj5 cable will fit. Not the short one.
    Come and take it

Saturn Surplus has nos ones for $22. I bought one this summer when my original one finally let go. http://www.saturnsurplus.com/m715/m715.htm Works great, but the install is a pain in the butt on the transfer case.

Just go with the long CJ-5 cable and housing then. A pair of screwdrivers, Channelock pliers, goggles and luck are required to get the housing off the transfer case. Or, the special tool the manual says you need to have. It can be done though and isn't really that hard.
Remember if you didn't build it you can't call it yours.

This is the cable I have in mine:

We do ship internationally and this would even be able to go USPS First Class International for $21.05.

I may be a bit late, but one cable choice that will also work is from a full-size Chevy truck, from 73-87. That is what I used on my truck several years ago. The ends are correct and the length is spot on.

    I used the spec of a 1978 Chevy C20 with a 350 V-8 and TH350 transmission.

BTW, have you tried rockauto.com? I know they ship overseas as another member in the UK used them before.
