    Default Re-engine/electrical issues

I am considering a 6BT Cummins swap but want to keep my truck 24v system.
I assume I will need to change out the starter and alternator for 24v models.
What have others done to get around this? Is it possible to swap the gnerator off of the tornado engine to keep the 24v charging system "factory". Will the 12v starter on a Cummins stand up to 24v?

These people have a bunch of the left over parts from when the government tried putting 6BT engines in M35's:

The prices are high, but if you want ready made M alternator brackets, here is your source.

Basically, 24V starters for the 6BT can be had at your nearest NAPA. Same with the electric on/off solenoid in 24V. If you have an inline P7100 pump, there is a cable on/off option used in industrial and delivery truck applications.

The 12 Volt starter will last a while on 24V, but it will die eventually. Probably the first time it gets cold.
Remember if you didn't build it you can't call it yours.
