Thread: Ignition coil

    Default Ignition coil

Just checking in to see if anyone knows what the ohm rating should be for a stock coil?
I have tested standard 12 volt coils primary to output and they generally run 7600 ohms, never tested a 24 volt coil but have a few kicking around and wanted to check them to see if they are still usable.

That topic has come up a lot lately and I was a victim of a Chinese coil as well. I copied it from the online TM and have it as a file for easy access since it seems to be coming up a lot lately. Hope it helps.

So other than either take off originals or the China repro one, are there any other options for us? Maybe a coil that doesn't fit inside the dist. housing, but can wire it in from the outside?

There's got to be other options out there.

Midwest military in Prior Lake MN has used ones, I have had good luck with them.
