Thread: 4WD operation

    Default 4WD operation

I have a question about the twin sticks in the M-715. Is the front one the High/Low range stick or is it the 2wd/4wd stick. Also what position is high'low and 2wd/4wd
    Thanks

The front stick is hi-low the back stick is 2-4. The idea is you can't shift it into low range if the rear stick isn't already back. This arrangement prevents you from 2wd low range so you can't send all the torque to one axle and break something.

Thats makes sense I was confused by a picture that I saw where they marked the front lever 4wd and the rear high/low. thanks again for answering my question. I hope to pick the M-715 up tomorrow. I'm getting a real good deal on it and the guy runs a 4WD shop so I shouldn't have problems getting parts. I will post pictures of it after I get it home. also see attache picture with mislabled levers.

Welcome to the Zone. At the top left of your screen you will see a link to the online maintenance manuals. Open that up and then open up the manual ending in -10. That tells you how to work everything on the truck. Kind of like a civilian vehicle owners manual. The -20 is how to do normal repairs and the -34 is how to take everything down to its smallest part, fix it and put it all back together again.
Remember if you didn't build it you can't call it yours.

If the data plates are still on the dash, there will be a diagram that shows the lever operation too.......

I guess I am confused. Manuals blah blah data plates whatever. the front lever ( closest to the seat) puts it in 4WD. pull the back lever ( closest to the dash) should push the front lever forard also putting it in 4 lo. correct me if I am wrong.

Typically you reference the vehicle as if you are sitting in the drivers seat. The drivers seat is the left side of the vehicle. The levers are on the right. The rear lever is closest to the seat. It puts the truck in 4wd. The front lever is closest to the dash. It puts the truck in high-low.

Jeeper is correct with this info:

I will keep the rest of my thoughts to myself!!!
