    Default Idle RPM?

Does anyone know the correct RPM at idle on a stock 230ci Tornado? My truck sounds as if it idles much faster than it should. Is their an idle adjustment screw on the stock carb? This has been a question I wanted to post, and finally got around to doing it. No tach, so can I idle it down alittle by sound? Thanks.

I don't have access to my books right now. (I am in Australia) Check the -34 manual. I am sure there are two idle screws. One is for the fast idle when it is on choke and the other one is for curb idle. I am sure there are specs on it. I had a problem with my truck not idling when I replaced and rebuilt the carb. I was unable to idle the engine down with the curb idle screw backed all of the way out to where it would not touch. The throttle shaft was bent and therefore, the butterfly valve would not close completely. Straightening the brass shaft fixed the problem.

Thanks Don, I'll check things out. My mom is very ill, (her kidneys have shut down and she's on emergency diaylasis). The last 4 weeks have been very trying and stressful for me. She says she wants to stop her diaylasis and I told her she would pass on in 2 to 3 weeks if she does. She says she's aware of that but still wants to stop treatment. It's her decision, but I'm having a hard time dealing with that. It's been a nightmare couple of weeks.

I am truly sorry to hear about your mom. Since we are of similar ages here often (Vietnam era) our parents are up in age. They also may have been exposed to hazards that we didn't know about years ago and it MAY be affecting their lives. I could go on and on but this is not the place. If I were home, maybe we could talk live sometime. Things seem work faster and easier when we are kinda "face to face". Please keep us posted on how she is doing...

Thank you Don. Yes we are the so called Babyboomer generation that everyone hears about. We are at the age now that we have children and parents to take care of and worry about. Ah!! the golden years!!!
