Thread: allison at 1000 transmission ?????

    Default allison at 1000 transmission ?????

    i have a chance to buy a new allison at 1000 trans 2001 year . will this trans fit a 350 or 454 chevy engine i know it fits a 8.1 496 ci engine and with adapter it will fit a cummings ? all so would this even be a good trans to put in my m715 truck or would another trans be better . also do i need a computer for it to shift right . i need to know soon dont think this trans will last long at this price . i think i can get it for $500 maybe . seems to me this would be a good heavy duty trans with overdrive ?

    I have looked into this before and from my research it will fit a sbc or bbc. It is computer controlled so you will need that system. Also its a very big transmission and will require a large amount of cutting and making a custom tunnel for it to work. I would still love to do the swap though.

    What he said. There are aftermarket controllers you can get for it. It should bolt up, might have to get a different flexplate. You will have to have a TPS on your engine for the trans controller to read. They are pretty big transmissions.

    Dont they have PTO capability aswell?

    Would be very interesting to see.

    Need to lift cab 2 inches and it'll fit fine, I had one behind a duramax mocked up in my 715, but inter cooler problems made switch back to 454. Stand alone computer and TPS like someone else said are required. Stock 2001 should be good for 300Hp and 450 ft lbs, can be built to handle whatever your budget allows.
