Thread: M725 only holds 9 gallons of gas

Default M725 only holds 9 gallons of gas

I dropped the gas tank and had it cleaned over a year ago. Truck sat for several months before I got it running. Runs great but only holds 8 gallons of gas before it acts full. Note - I don't have the gauge working yet. Anyone have an idea before I pull the tank again? Thank you

Pull the plug on the bottom of the tank and drain the tank. Refill. The amount to refill is how much it holds. The tank is full when you can see gasoline in the filler neck.

What doyou mean by acts full? It won't take anymore? If you are running out and it only takes 9 to fill it up then your pick up tube is broken off or somehow not at the bottom of the tank.

Small rust pin prick holes in the pick up tube as Wrecker wrote.

Or, you have a bunch of junk in there. You didn't happen to find an empty ping pong ball case in your trash a month ago, did you?
Remember if you didn't build it you can't call it yours.

    Default Gas tank

Acts full- after about 9 gallons, it tops off and you see gas in the fill tube, it doesn't go down even, after several days.

I don't remember seeing a ping pong ball.

Thank you for the help, great to have an idea before getting to work.

Ping Pong balls, now that is funny! Actually it's scary. Glad my truck is locked in the garage. Acts full after 9 gallons, and it doesn't go down? I'm baffeled, no punn intented.
