Thread: stock axles

    Default stock axles

Is anyone running a 350/sm465/205 and stock axles? If so what is highway speed and RPM like as well as driveability? I am considering this or an axle change.

You'll be up there close to 3k rpms depending on tire size. Your wallet might not like that kind of fuel economy.

Have that combo in mine. It is very drivable and top speed is about 75. Turning a lot of rpm's but no tach so I can't say for sure how many. I usually keep it at 65 but it doesn't complain when I push it further. It gets single digit fuel economy.

The only engines that i know that will get 15 mpg to 23 mpg are diesel engines 4 bolt cummings from dogde pick ups and maybe some other diesel engines ? But im sure they will be some other people that will disagree with me so be it !!

I'm putting a Detroit 3-53 in my truck with stock axles/sm465/ranger gearsplitter.. Im hopping to get close to 25 mpg staying around 55 mph. The aerodynamics of these trucks don't help very much for mileage...regardless of the engine/gear combo lol
