Default Pick a 24V to 12V converter for me please!!

I know it's been discussed before, but I'm curious if this is the real deal or a scam!!

Any other guidance would/will be well received. I loathe mistakes, as "haste" of mine makes them (mistakes) abound.

Wow, that is pricey. You can find them a lot cheaper than that. I am running one made by Opek that I picked up for about $40. I only use it to run my ignition, but I could run more. It is a model VR1. Here it is:

Is is another one by Opek that is 15 amp:

They also make one in 25 amp, it is Opek model VR 25. What are you going to use it for?

I want to keep as much 24v gear intact as possible, while still being able to run a diesel motor and its controls etc.

HAHA we give more than our fair share to "OPEC" anyhow with our dismal mpg... now this "OPEC" angle to get less voltage. Ironic.

    Thanks Gunny Porkchop

What diesel are you going to run? All of the mechanical pump engines can be made 24 volt for about $30.
Remember if you didn't build it you can't call it yours.

I'm using a small 10 Amp unit on my Deuce that I use to power two 12 volt gauges, and an outlet to run my GPS or charge my cell phone. I never come close to using its peak output and it was around $25 on e-bay a couple years ago. Still working fine.

6bt. Will it lend itself to 24V system?

This is a crash course for me. Beginning to end frame off resto and engine swap etc in about 10-12 months I hope. Hasn't run since 1996 when the Fire Dept gave up on her.

Thanks Randyscycle. That sounds like the same aux use I'd need, except for the guages at this point. Sounds perfect.

VE (round) pump or P (inline) pump? Both can be made to work on either voltage with just swapping out the solenoid. Some P pumps can be made fully manual with no electronics at all.

Not sure yet. I will need to determine which pump style is preferable/better. I'm beginning a frame off restoration and am trying to plan ahead, so I can bolt it back together with accomodations for mods, motor and tranny mounts upgraded, cab lift (for 6BT) etc. I'm taking notes though. Thank you for the reply, that helps me with my planning/homework.

    Looking like a Bosch P-Pump and a 1998 12V will be sought.
