Thread: It has arrived!

    Default It has arrived!

Finally it is here. Pick up this beast a few months back and finally got everything in order and it arrived yesterday at 2330 on a flatbed. Truck runs great (1968), we drove it on and off the trailer. But the seller took his gas tank and batteries back with him. Oh well, thoes will probably be the easiest things to aquire when it comes to this baby. Brand new soft top came with the truck.

There were some mods made by the forestry dept. They cut a hole in the bed for a water tank, and added some tool brackets. Not a major deal, but I'll fix both in time.

I will be spending the next few months cleaning, painting (I HATE red), and giving this truck back it's former pride.

This is my first restoration project, wish me luck

Looks like a good starting point...congrats!!

12 V alternator there? What is with the 2 starter relays on the fender...assuming 12 volt coversion on the truck?

Looks like a civilian heater...intersting for a southern truck...redo the hoses and she should blow some good heat...did you get the defroster ducts up under the dash with that too?

Electric fuel pump, civilian ignition....nice looking setup.

Nice truck, almost identical to mine when I got it. You'll have a blast restoring it.

That master cylinder looks just like mine, I haven't noticed very many with that style... I suspected that maybe it was swapped in at some point, does anybody know if they are factory? I have since installed the Corvette MC, but I was always curious about it. Mine was a '68 also. Here is a picture of mine:

While I dont remember the exact application, that is the master that one of the full size Jeeps used back then.
All the factory M715 master cylinders were not of this type but it would work for a replacement as, if I remember right, this master and the correct factory M715 one have the same basic fluid flow characteristics.
