Thread: Hi-lift mounts?

  1. #1

    Default Hi-lift mounts?

I searched for a while. The first picture from fishermans didn't load up for me, and Jester's was too far away to see how it the pins underneath are installed. Gwen has the fancy lockable hilift brand unit that I'm too cheap to buy, lol. I'm thinking of installing my hi-lift on the passenger side under the toprail. If anyone would post up some shots or ideas, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks guys, I'm hoping to mount this up before the trip this Thursday- gonz

I just stick mine in the rifle rack behind the driver seat.

Sorry - Got no pics handy. Will try to post some tonight.

The design is simple and I copied Fisherman's set-up.

Basically a flat plate welded to the inside of the rear stake pocket. It has two pins on it that go thru the base of the hi lift. I also added a hole for a lock.

On the center stake pocket, I fished a bolt from the inside out. Put a nut on it to hold it tight. The hi lift slides over it and then a big wing nut on the outside.

This is the best picture I have here at work of my mount:

I added a bolt at the base plate so it wouldn't come off by accident in traffic. That bolt basically makes it so I look for something else to pick up the truck instead of taking it apart. Try to make yours so it isn't work to get apart.
Remember if you didn't build it you can't call it yours.

Hopefully this works. I think this is best picture I have, at least the one I could find. Hope this helps. I have some close up's somewhere. I think the hi lift mounted here balances the tools on the truck, makes it difficult to steal the shovel. Have fun.

Thanks, guys! Work filters don't let me see most pics, but I'll look at them tonight after I get done working. I love this place!
