I've located a set of 5 1100r16 XL tires that are actually within my price range. 4 are supposed to be with good tread and one that would make a decent spare. The seller sent me a picture with a quarter in the tread to show depth and it is about half way up the quarter. Is this a pretty good depth for XL's? It's about a 10-12 hour round trip haul to go get them, and it would tap the project money for a bit but the price is worth it if the tread sounds good.

Although my wife is going to be royally POed when I ditch her and the kids for whole day.....

That tread looks to be 50-70%. Also, check that the sidewalls are not heavily weathered. The wheels look like the LAV wheels so you will need to find Barrmans thread on dismounting the wheels and removing the runflats. If they are in the houston area, I might be able to look at them for you.
