Thread: Cucv axle backspacing

    Default Cucv axle backspacing

A question that was asked that I didn't see an answer to: if you swap in the slightly narrower cucv axles, does it change the tire clearance on turns?
Do you need to run wheels with less backspacing (around 3-4") to maintain the stock axle wheel stance and keep tires from rubbing? I plan on using my 11.00-16 xlz's. Thanks!

I think Jpete is doing this swap and using dually hubs up front to get the wms out far enough to use Hummer wheels. I haven't seen any more on it since last fall when he wrote about it in JP magazine. You might check their website and see if he's made any progress.

Simplest solutin is just get wheels with 3-4" of backspacing. Stock wheels have over 5" of backspacing.

I have 325 85 16 michelins on 16x10 wheels with 4 inch backspacing and my tires stick out past the wheelwell.
