Default m-725 heater conversion question 24 to 12

has anyone converted the rear heater to 12 volts?
does the heater get the truck warm enough for cold <32deg?
can you run it all night if using a seperate deep cycle battery?

Well the engineering manager from Stewart Warner South Wind corp. just sent me an E-mail telling me that it is not possible to convert the heater from 24 volts to 12. I am going to drop it off at a friends electrical shop to see what he thinks but I may have to run a seperate power supply if we cant make the conversion work. if I figure this out I will post how to do it or at least what the solution ends up being.

Good to know, keep us informed on what you come up with.
I'm counting on the heater, PO switched to 12 volt but I never had a chance to fire it up.

Not being totally familiar with that heater, I'd say that the fuel pump and blower would be an easy conversion to 12 volts. The ignition system might be a different story however. I think they use a coil and spark plug type ignitior if I remember correctly.

I never felt comfortable with the gas-powered heater, so I sold mine. I will probably put in an electric mojave heater or similar. I feel more confident that I won't burst into flames at an inoppotune moment!

I mounted a Espar fuel fired heater inside the rear seat compartment and ran the ducting to the cab. Have had no issues with the unit. It does have sensors for overheating, air flow restrictions and a few other issues. When it gets a fault code it shuts down. I just use it to heat the cab, no venting to passenger compartment, keeps it toasty in there. So far it's the best thing I've done to the truck, since it's used year round.
