Greetings. I'm a new owner, got a dead beast and have managed to bring it back to life. I'm sure this has been previously addressed at some point, but how does one go about finding where one's 715 saw service via the serial#?

short answer is: you don't. The military doesn't have any records to track the trucks history.
If you are lucky, you can do some careful "forensic sanding" on the front bumper and rear bumperettes, and see if you can find any numbers or markings that may give a clue as to what unit it may have served with. It won't give you a history as such, but it can help give some clues. Try usning very fine paper like 600, 800, 1200 to uncover the layers.
When I got my truck, it had US Forestry service markings barely visible on it, and on the rear bumperettes as I sanded, I found KY National Guard markings. There were remnants of a star on one door too. Not a lot to go on, but still something.
