timing chain copper links?

I am ready to put on the head, looking at the timming chain there is not any copper links. Any segestions?

I know, that wasnt funny...
All the stuff I have, military and civilian, talk about the copper links....
Getting a different chain is all I can think...sorry to say...

I good be wrong but I think the copper links only help in finding the dots on the gears. Thats the way it s on other cars. Just make sure the dots are in the right spots,the chain should not make a diffrent.

The chains don't seem to have the copper links anymore. A suggestion would be to count the links and temporarely mark your chain for reference. I don't know the count off hand is it 32links guys? Just confirm that the #1 cam lobe is pointed straight down 6:00 position with piston on TDC of the compression stroke.

From the -34 manual, Thanks again Brut4c for making them available:
4) Position crankshaft timing chain sprocket and camshaft timing chain sprocket in opposite ends of timing chain so keyway of timing chain sprocket is up and
the dowel of the camshaft sprocket is down. Position parts so copper links of the chain are aimed with timing marks on the sprockets. The copper segments are
32 links apart. Refer to figure 3-12.
Note that figure 3-12 is of no real help in viewing this.
Here's a link to an Argentine web site that gives a rough picture of the timing chain set up. It's the 32 link set up (4 Bancadas = 4 [main] Bearings. Note that this picture is just to give you the general idea (it's incorrectly drawn with only 24 links)

Also confirm that the distributor rotor is pointed towards the #1 spark plug wire location, not the #6 position.

Thanks guys. After cleaning the chain a little better i found two links that are not a dark as the rest, and 32 links apart, I used those.

The problem with lining up he timing marks on the grears like you do with other stuff is that there is no mark on the cam gear...you point it down with the #1 cam lobe...points straight down as ha been mentioned above...
The crank gear has a mark that the chain lines up to on the drivers side of the gear, straight across from the mark to the link...that should put the upper copper link right at the bottom of the cam gear...but no mark there to reference...
Its an oddball...especially in this area...
