    Door Tech...
    Post by bluesman2a on Oct 9, 2006, 3:08pm

OK, so I want to start reconditioning my doors and I need a little help here.

    Some questions:

    1) I have the external "wipes" for the outside seals, what are the INSIDE tabs called?

    2) Can I use civvie/FSJ parts for this? If so what parts are common?

    3) The "track/slots" on the windows, I THINK should have felt in them, where can I get replacements? The window/glass is loose and rattles badly.

    4) Are there any other seals/felt/track/"consumable" parts I should consider replacing and if so where should I look for them?

    Regards,
    Herb

    In this image:

#5 is called "WEATHERSTRIP, DOOR, LOWER"
    FSN: 5680-411-5700
    Reference number: 11657805

FYI, the #2 item is called either " WEATHERSTRIP, DOOR, OUTER, LEFT" or WEATHERSTRIP, DOOR, OUTER, RIGHT, thus indicating the outside one has a left and right side piece but the inner one does not....heres the total info for those 2 pieces if anyone needs it:
    WEATHERSTRIP, DOOR, OUTER, LEFT
    FSN: 5330-157-6190
    11640932-2

    WEATHERSTRIP, DOOR, OUTER, RIGHT
    FSN: 5330-157-6187
    Reference number: 11640932-1

    Item #1 is:
    KIT, WEATHERSTRIP, DOOR BELT OUTER
    FSN: 2540-933-3540
    Reference Number: 5704439

    #4 is:
CHANNEL ASSEMBLY, FRONT WINDOW, L. H.
    FSN: 2540-476-5498
    Reference number: 11640984-1

CHANNEL ASSEMBLY, FRONT WINDOW, R. H.
    NO FSN GIVEN
    Reference number: 11640984-2

There is also 1 weatherstrip on the window that rolls up and down...in this pic, #4, as well as 2 seals between the glass and the frame, #2 and #5:

#4 is: WEATHERSTRIP, WINDOW GUIDE RAIL
    NO FSN GIVEN
    Reference number: 11657763

    #2 is: SEAL, FRONT WINDOW
    FSN: 9390-136-9204
    Reference number: 11657751

    #5 is: SEAL, LIFT CHANNEL
    NO FSN GIVEN
    Reference number: 11657761

There should be felt type stuff in the channels...dont know off hand who would have it...the usual sources like Memphis Equipment maybe...

here ya go brand new and refurbished!! felt window channels. Windows are so tight now i had to work them for a few days to get them to loosen up after the new felt.

this place can do almost anything. i use them ... http://restorationspecialties.com/ Send your old parts to them and they will restore and/or create new ones. I got all my door wipes inside and outside and channel felt done there.

I got the following at either VPW or Memphis equipment.

I have removed my doors about 6 times in the last few months. One tip I figured out is to put PVC pipe insulation on the front edge of the door so you don't scratch your fenders while worknig the hinges out of their slots once you unbolt them.

Some day I'm going to have to drive down and take a look at your truck Teking. From the pics you've posted it looks like you've done an excellent job of restoring it.
